Usean kauden putkeen Helsinki Wolverines menestyi amerikkalaisen jalkapallon ykkösdivisioonassa, mutta tulevalla kaudella tavoitteet ovat Vaahteraliigapaikan myötä korkeammalla ja olemme tyytyväisiä voidessamme ilmoittaa monien kotimaisten pelaajien panostuksesta tulevissa ponnisteluissa; edustusjoukkueen päättyneen kauden MVP, laitahyökkääjä Marcus Siiskonen, sekä vuoden hyökkääjä, sentteri Tomi Ristilä tulevat jatkamaan Wolverinesissa. Ahmapaidan pukevat päällensä myös: Emil Jauhanen, Juuso Voutilainen, Pasi Kallio, Kimmo Korpinoro, Jesse Lindberg, Pavel Kuluks ja Joona Rinne.

Wolverinesin uusi vahvistus, Jabari Harris on intoa täynnä päästessään pelaamaan Vaahteraliigaa ahmalaumassa. Urallaan useita suomalaisseuroja menestyksekkäästi edustanut ja muunmuassa Puolan liigan arvokkaimmaksi pelaajaksi kertaalleen valittu pelimies on edelleen valmis oppimaan, kehittymään ja vaikuttamaan positiivisesti joukkueessa sekä aikoo voittaa mestaruuden tulevalla kaudella. Toivotamme Jabarin tervetulleeksi perheeseen, sillä uskomme hänen sytyttävän kipinän joukkueessa ja odotuksemme ovat luonnollisesti korkealla.

Jabarin haastattelu:

What are your goals for season 2019 in The Maple League?

My personal goal is to learn, grow, and be an impact on this team. I want to be a leader and help my team achieve its goals! I simply want to do my job, and help the Wolverines get to the top of the playoffs. You can’t talk about championships until you make the playoffs first.

Why Helsinki Wolverines?

I came to the Wolverines because it’s not only an opportunity for me to display my talents in the league, but I can grow here and become even better, by getting quality coaching and pushed at practice every week by Robert Johnson, and the many other veterans on this team. Coach Kari Titola and the other coaches believe in my talent, and also my leadership ability. He and the others in the organization expressed to me that I could be a young spark for this club for the future, and that I could do great things here. Since 2015, Robert has reached out to me and wanted to work with me and help me to become one of the best QBs and Athletes in Europe. No one else has expressed that kind of care for my career and personal development. That’s why I feel that joining the Wolverines was the best move for my career. I’m still young and there are so many things I can learn from those two guys, Robert and Kari. Lastly, I came here because of my great friends Jason Thomas and Ville Ferm are here. These two men have been in my life since I was with the 69ers in 2015 and have supported me on and off the field. We have a bond and friendship that I don’t have with most people in the football world. Being able to work with them along with Robert, Kari, and the many others involved with the organization all at the same time, brings me a level of comfort that I probably wouldn’t have gotten anywhere else. To keep it simple, the Wolverines wanted me here and proved it with their actions, not just words.”

Is there anything you would like to say to the fans?

To the fans of football and to the Fans of Helsinki Wolverines, I like to say thanks for the warm welcome. I hope you all come out to support not just us, but the game of American Football in general! Let’s all pitch in and make the 2019 Maple League season one to remember.”

Welcome to the Wolverines Jabari!
