Helsinki Wolverines team, competing in women’s American Football leagues is hosting a free beginner’s course!
In five practice sessions of the course, you will learn about the fundamental football skills in offense and defence from the perspective of different football player positions. Skills that we will practice include catching and carrying the ball, blocking and tackling. During the course participants will also have the opportunity to practice with football gear provided by the team. The course highlight is the game simulation practice at the final session, where participants put the skills learned at the course into action.
The course runs every Wednesday in November at 20-21:45 at the Tali Football Hall (Purokatu 8, Helsinki). You will only need sports gear suitable for indoors football hall, cleats or sneakers and your own water bottle.
There are no obligations and you do not need to attend every session – you can get a feel of the sport and your possible future playing position at the sessions that best fit your schedule. At the end of the course we will give more detailed information on how to get started in football and join our team.
Participants of the course are also welcome to attend the team practice (Tuesdays from 20-22 and Thursdays from 20:30-22, and extra conditioning sessions on Sundays – time to be specified later).

Helsinki Wolverines team competing in women’s leagues of American Football is one of the most successful in Finland! It is a team of dozens of diverse athletes, many that also represent Finland in the national team. Over the last seven years, the team has achieved seven medals on the national level, including four Finnish championships and three silver medals. The team plays in Women’s Maple League (national level) and in addition has a team in lower division level, with the goal to enable player development, provide players opportunities to obtain experience on different levels and to more evenly distribute playing time.
